Minecraft Anticheat for Minigames and Duels
How minigame and duel servers should prioritize combat checks, low-noise alerts, and fast staff decisions.
Minigame modes need exemptions by design
Minigames routinely create behavior that looks like cheats: teleports between rounds, kit-given effects and items, respawn immunity, spectator transitions, custom projectiles, and scripted movement. An anticheat without mode-aware exemptions will flag the game itself.
Exemptions must therefore be explicit per mode and per phase: lobby, active round, respawn window, and post-match. Anything implicit will either over-flag events or silently shelter abuse.
Plan checks for each game mode
Build a matrix crossing each game mode with its phases, and record which check families stay active, which are relaxed, and which are exempt in each cell. Fill it with staged runs using the mode's real kits, maps, and player counts.
Keep the matrix versioned alongside the minigame plugin configuration, since game updates invalidate old assumptions without warning.
| Mode and phase | Combat checks | Movement-adjacent review | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Duel: active round | Full with mitigation | Observe knockback edge cases | Fast staff review path |
| Duel: respawn window | Relaxed briefly | Exempt scripted motion | Time-box the exemption |
| Minigame: lobby | Observation only | Exempt teleports and kits | No enforcement in lobby |
| Minigame: active round | Full per mode rules | Review custom items first | Re-stage per game update |
Keep match flow fast and reviewable
Favor low-noise alerts plus reversible mitigation during live matches, and defer heavyweight punishment decisions to post-match review with preserved evidence. Players accept a reviewed loss far better than a mid-match false ejection.
Document the per-mode enforcement split where staff can find it mid-event, and rehearse the appeal path before tournaments.
FAQ
Should minigames share the survival check configuration?
No. Each mode needs its own exemption matrix, staged separately with its real kits, maps, and phases.
What ruins minigame anticheat most often?
Unmodeled teleports, kit effects, and respawn phases flagged as cheats. Exempt explicitly and time-box every exemption.
