FairPlay Toggle and Checks Commands

Compare /fp toggle with /fp checks for changing an individual check or category.

The explicit checks command

ChecksCommand registers /fairplay checks and requires fairplay.command.checks in addition to the root command permission. Its action is enable, disable, or toggle; the target can be a loaded check name or a runtime FairCheckType category.

The command looks up a check by its registered name, then by category. If the target is unavailable, FairPlay reports that it was not found.

Command syntax.
/fp checks <enable|disable|toggle> <check|category>
/fp toggle <check|category>

The shorter toggle command

ToggleCommand registers /fairplay toggle with alias /fairplay tg and permission fairplay.command.toggle. It toggles the current state for a check or category; it does not take an explicit enable/disable action.

This difference matters in repeatable operator instructions: use an explicit desired state when idempotence matters, and use the shorthand only when the intent is specifically to invert the current state.

Explicit checks form versus shorthand toggle.
FormTakes desired stateRepeat behavior
/fairplay checks <enable|disable|toggle> <target>YesIdempotent: reruns converge on the stated state
/fairplay toggle <target> (alias /fairplay tg)NoInverts current state on every run

Check availability remains runtime-owned

Both commands use FairPlay’s check settings and require the fairplay.command permission plus the relevant subcommand permission. After changing a setting, review the server’s check configuration to confirm the result.

Use the exact command usage text from the installed build’s command messages. This guide avoids guessing argument behavior beyond what the command implementation establishes.

FAQ

Which form should runbooks use?

Use the explicit checks form with the desired end state, so reruns converge instead of flipping current state.

Does the shorthand accept enable or disable?

No. The shorthand inverts current state for a check or category; only the checks form takes an explicit enable, disable, or toggle action.
